Pregnant Woman Forms Bond With Pregnant Stray Cat, Then They Give Birth At Same Time

When you’re expecting a baby, it’s always nice to have a friend who is also pregnant to share the experience – even if they’re not actually a human. Lauren Maners is a woman who is always there to help animals in need. She helps out in shelters and fosters pets until they find their forever home. However, when Lauren got pregnant, she decided she would take a break. Lauren said: “I had a long history in fostering and rehabilitating animals, but when I got toward the end of my pregnancy, I decided that it was time to take a break from all of that as the animals I usually fostered/rehabilitated were usually sickly and needed lots of care, which I would not have time for once the baby came.”

Laura changed her mind after meeting a cute white cat. She said that one morning she made the decision to rest, she and her husband were driving home from breakfast when they discovered an ɪɴᴊᴜʀᴇᴅ cat in an empty roadside parking lot. With a love of animals, she immediately asked her husband to get off the car and check if the cat was okay. It was then that she realized that it was ɪɴᴊᴜʀᴇᴅ and was still pregnant with a litter of kittens. Laura knew that the cat was in bad shape and also felt some connection to the cat since they were both pregnant. She lured the cat to her with leftovers to take the cat to the vet.

After being ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴇᴅ at the vet, the couple took the cat, later named Dove, home and got her settled in and comfortable. They asked around to see if she had a family who was looking for her, and instead found out from locals that she had been a stray for most of her life. Dove had reportedly been eating out of dumpsters. Unable to find Dove’s owner or secure a place in a no-ᴋɪʟʟ shelter, Lauren knew she couldn’t turn away a fellow expectant mother, and took her in. “I couldn’t just leave her knowing that she was going to have to take care of her babies in the wild,” Lauren said.

After living with Laura’s family, the cat adapted very quickly. Dove would follow Laura everywhere, she liked to sit outside with Laura in the morning in the fenced area and let her rub her belly while they ate breakfast together. The two mothers spend time together as they move through the final weeks of their pregnancy.

Soon Lauren gave birth to a little baby girl. When they returned home, they saw that Dove had given birth to her kittens as well. Lauren thought that it could be possible they gave birth at the same time. Dove gave birth to six adorable kittens. And Lauren’s family took care of the mother and the kittens until the little ones grew up healthy, ready for adoption into good homes.
