Four Dogs Are Put To The Test To See If They’ll Protect Their Owners From An Assault
People spend thousands of dollars on highly trained personal protection dogs to guard their homes against intruders. While others count on their dog’s protective instincts to kick in, should they ever need it.
If you were ever in danger, what would your dog do? Would they guard you and your home with their life, or would they back down or even hide from danger?
Michelle Kellaher always wondered what her 5-year-old yellow Labrador named Perry would do if someone ever broke into their home. Perry never has had any personal protection training, but Michelle wanted to see how she’d react anyway.
So, with some help from Inside Edition, they hired guard dog experts to put Perry to the test. They set the stage and when it was time, a masked intruder breaks through the front door of Michelle and Perry’s home.
Michelle puts on a show of yelling and being afraid, all the while the intruder makes menacing moves toward her. As Michelle screams for Perry, Perry shoots out the front door in fear, tucking his tail, trying to escape the danger.
Next, Rudy a 4-year-old pit bull lab mix is put to the test. Her owner is confident the dog will protect him, while he is assaulted, Ruby approaches the intruder and is upset over the situation, yet she is unwilling to bite the stranger or protect her owner.
The next dogs put to the test are a tiny Chihuahua and her doggy companion, Frodo. Ellen, their owner, is confident Frodo will protect her. When mom yells, the two dogs run into the room and Frodo separates the intruder from mom and drives him right out the front door. Even the Chi was brave and jumped right in to protect her owner from danger.
Some dogs are certainly more protective than others and most can sense danger. How they will react remains to be seen unless they have some training. Hopefully, you and your pup will never be put to the test.
These dogs prove that even some breeds that are notoriously protective, may not respond the way you’d think. While other dogs have a surprisingly deep protective instinct, like Frodo who knew how to drive danger away.
