Shelter Dog Is Left Alone In The Office So He Throws Himself A Party
Damon the lost dog found himself living at the Cincinnati Animal CARE after no one stepped up to claim him. He was put up for adoption but sadly after months, he still had not found his forever home. Despite that, he still tried to make the best of his situation.
The shelter was very overpopulated, and Damon was lucky enough to be chosen to hang out in the office as the ‘office pet.’ The privilege was good for Damon because it made his days a little brighter.
“He was residing in the behavior office, but they needed their space to work with additional dogs in need, and he had bonded with Sydney, our foster expert,” Ray Anderson, a staff member at Cincinnati Animal CARE, told The Dodo. “So, he temporarily resided there!”
Then one day Damon was left alone in the office when one of the workers named Sydney had to go to a meeting. She was only gone for about 45 minutes but that was plenty of time for Damon to make some fun mischief for himself.
It appeared that he decided to throw himself a party. For some reason, he was happily compelled to take the toys designated for foster families, toss them around, tear them apart, and deconstruct them. In a nutshell, he had fun making a huge mess.
He knocks himself out and had the time of his shelter life doing it. According to Anderson, “I think the official tally of toys destroyed was ‘all of them. He discovered a cornucopia of entertainment since the foster office is stocked with gifts to take home with our foster families.”
When Sydney returned to the office, there sat Damon sitting in the middle of his mayhem, completely happy with himself and surrounded by bits. He had a great time and had zero remorse for all the fun he’d been having.
It was impossible to be mad at the sweet pup for finally cutting loose and having a great time. Maybe even the best time of his life. Besides, it wasn’t his fault that the shelter staff got busy and distracted, leaving him alone with all that fun temptation.
The story also led to an unexpected happy ending. His story and pictures were shared on social media and Damon’s family saw him and reclaimed him! So, despite himself, he was reunited with his family, which is so awesome.
